Since our last post, we have decided to make a move from full-time living on Fourth Lake. It’s been a wonderful experience meeting you all and helping you with your decorating needs, but we will not be opening The Boathouse in 2012. We are leaving our webpage up and will let you know how The Boathouse Camp & Home evolves. Have a great summer and we’ll miss you! Thanks for your business and friendship – it’s truly been a lot of fun!

The ice is singing as it makes its way off the lakes. Higher than normal temps began the move, although we’re now more seasonal with 30′s during the day and 20′s at night. Today is sunny and the open water in front of camp is a welcome sign that spring is here! The April issue of National Geographic has a 2-page spread of a Nancie Battaglia photo of the September 24, 2011 Inlet Breast Cancer Fundraiser/Guinness World Record Kayak & Canoe Raft known as One Square Mile of Hope. Congrats to Nancie for capturing the attention of the NG people and sharing with the world her stunning kaleidoscope representing an amazing day. Keeping busy here, traveling a bit there and looking forward to seeing you soon!

Winter weather descended last night and into today with about 8 inches of new snow falling just in time for Inlet’s Frozen Fire & Lights, a day-long celebration of everything winter. For those of you who haven’t heard, One Square Mile of Hope 2011 on 4th Lake has officially regained our 2008 Guinness World Record for the largest canoe/kayak raft on an open body of water. You can read more about the event at www.onesquaremileofhope.org. In addition to the new record of 1902 boats (by the way, the year Inlet was incorporated), the event raised over $80,000 for breast cancer research. Thank you to all of you who participated! Hope you are enjoying a milder winter than we’ve been used to and making plans to spend time in the Adirondacks this spring, summer and fall. We’ll be opening for our 7th season in May and look forward to catching up with you.

The Boathouse Camp & Home is readying for 2012 and we’re excited about the upcoming season. Winter is in full swing in the West Central Adirondacks with ample snow for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing in the Inlet area. McCauley Mountain is open for downhill skiing, with 6 trails open as of today. We’ll be bringing in some new furniture lines this year, expanding on both our indoor and outdoor furniture. We’re available year-round for your home furnishing needs by appointment and will reopen our retail store in Inlet the beginning of May. Enjoy your winter and we’ll see you soon!

The Boathouse Camp & Home retail store is now open by appointment to help you with your holiday furniture and home furnishing needs. Give us a call at 315-357-2267(CAMP) and we’ll be glad to help you. This first week in November is cool and sunny, allowing us to get outside for a last paddle on the lake, late fall walks, hikes and bikes as well as leaf raking, wood stacking and those chores to be finished before the winter snow arrives.
For those of you who weren’t able to be with us in Inlet on September 24 for One Square Mile of Hope 2011, it was a glorious day that brought over 2000 paddlers and some 1925 boats to Fourth Lake to unofficially break the Guinness World Record for the Largest Canoe/Kayak Raft. We’ve already sent over $70,000 to Susan G. Komen for the Cure, with more to follow. A high resolution color photo poster of the 2011 raft by photographer Nancie Battaglia and pink or black caps with the OSMOH logo are now available for $15 (shipping included) at www.onesquaremileofhope.org.

September is a wonderful time in the Adirondacks! Fall is in the air and the leaves are beginning to change. This month the little town of Inlet is preparing for One Square Mile of Hope 2011 on Saturday, September 24. Come join us as we raise money for Susan G. Komen for the Cure and break a Guinness Book of World Record for the Largest Canoe/Kayak Raft on an Open Body of Water! While in town this fall, stop by The Boathouse just to browse or to buy that special piece of furniture for your camp or home. See you in Inlet!
August 2nd, 2011
The weather continues to be incredible! Our Lloyd/Flanders furniture, the original ALL WEATHER WICKER, is now on sale. Enjoy 30% savings on our entire line during August. We are now carrying beautiful hand-crafted cherry, hickory and yellow birch burl bowls made in Northern New York. They can be used for snacks and nuts or simply admired as fine art. We were saddened to hear that Monroe Salt Works in Maine, the producer of our salt glaze pottery had gone out of business. We have a few pieces left in the store, but will be unable to order more. There is still time to register for One Square Mile of Hope 2011 to be held in Inlet on September 24 to benefit Susan G. Komen for the Cure and an attempt to break a Guinness Book of World Records for the Largest Canoe/Kayak Raft. Register at www.onesquaremileofhope.org by August 15 and you’ll be entered to win a Half-Day Guided Kayak Tour for Two provided by Frisky Otter Tours of Inlet. See you in town and on the water!
